MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The initial procedure will take 1 to 3 hours depending on the procedure and time it takes to
numb the area. The follow up procure is usually about an hour, with numbing time included.
IS IT SAFE?
Micro pigmentation is an invasive procedure of the skin. It is important to observe the physical Location where the procedure will be performed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has set standards for a clean and sanitary working environment. For example, needles should not be re-used and properly disposed of after each client use. As with everything In life there are risks. Infection, corneal abrasion, and allergic reactions have occurred, but are very rare. It is important to follow after care instructions carefully.
ARE THERE AFTER OR SIDE EFFECTS?
Generally, there is some swelling of the treated area and there may be some redness or
bruising. These usually subside within a few days. Lips however, may stay swollen longer.
DO THE PIGMENTS POSE ALLERGY PROBLEMS?
A person can develop an allergy to anything, anytime, even after years of use. There have been reported allergic reactions to pigments used for these procedures. Thankfully the number of allergic reactions compared to procedures done are very minimal. Reputable companies use this data to research causative agents and strive to eliminate problem elements from their products.
WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP? HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
A touch up may be needed to enhance color, thicken eyeliner, extend ends of eyeliner, or add color to an area that healed lighter. A touch up may or may not be needed. Depending on the individual, the area may heal perfect or may need time to heal in between due to swelling, bruising, or minor bleeding. Some individuals hold color for years, while others fade out faster and need a touch up after a few years to enhance the color. On rare occasions the color may not have healed to the desired color. Correction procedures may take more than one visit.
CAN I STILL HAVE AN MRI SCAN?
Yes. In rare instances, mild irritation to the tattooed area was reported. The irritation was
localized and temporary and most complaints were from actual tattoos. Most people have more metal in filling than they would ever have in any tattoo work. A cool wash cloth usually remedies the problem. Complaints are very rare.
DOES IT HURT?
The most asked question is, “does it hurt?” A topical anesthetic is used for the procedure. Some people numb better than others. With eyeliner, the biggest complaint is not that it hurts, but the idea that something is being done so close to the eye. Special care is taken during the procedure to ensure that the eyelid is far from the eye to reduce risk of injury. The eyebrow may be sensitive at first, but once initial outline is applied, it is numbed effectively. Lips are very sensitive and may be difficult to numb with topical anesthetic. If you have trouble numbing at the dentist, inform your technician. This will clue the technician to leave the topical on longer in order to reach the desired effect. Some permanent cosmetic clients have employed family practitioners or dentists to perform injections to numb the area before the procedure, especially for lips. This is very effective, but slightly inconvenient because the outline must be drawn on first before the injections are performed and a little more of an expense, very effective.
